Today is the 10th Anniversary of the 9/11/2001 massacre. There was a solemn and moving event held at our local BPOE Lodge where a Memorial Stone was installed. Multiple units of first responders were present and after the stone was installed there was a time period devoted to the first responders' sirens and horns which depicted the chaos of the terrorist acts. It was astounding! The stone is astounding!
AND....... TIME magazine published a Special Commemorative Issue entitled "Beyond 9/11." The closing piece of the issue by Kurt Andersen is telling and a must read Terror's Half Life. It's a challenging read. It calls for a paradigm shift which I do not believe the USA is ready to make. I wish I had a copy of my wife's poem for 9/11 to post here too as it is a challenging piece and one that would not have been well received at today's Lodge event. So read Andersen's piece when you are willing to or need to be awakened.
